Tap density definition
According to the standard where a powder sample fills into a vessel and the vessel is vibrated at certain amplitude and frequency, this process can help to remove air from the powders. After reaching the required vibration time, the sample is flatten to the vessel brim and the ratio of the powder mass to the volume of the vessel is defined as tap density. Tap density indicates the mass.

Specification

The density of powder refers to the mass corresponding to a unit volume of powder. Due to the existence of gaps (or pores) between particles or inside particles in the powder, the density of the powder is usually lower than the true density of the corresponding substance. The tap density refers to the density of the powder contained in the container after it is tapped under specified conditions.
